SCARSDALE, NEW YORK — The brutal slaying of a respected pediatrician inside her home has shaken the affluent New York suburb of Scarsdale, which has not seen a homicide in over 30 years.

The New York Daily News reports that Julius Reich, 61, a successful financial adviser, lived with his wife, Dr. Robin Goldman, 58, in a sprawling $2.8 million mansion in New York's Westchester County.

The two were at home Wednesday morning, reportedly in the middle of a domestic dispute, when the incident occurred. The News Journal reports that Reich allegedly stabbed his 58-year-old wife multiple times and called 911 afterward to report that she was seriously injured.

When police arrived at the scene around 10 a.m., they found Goldman dead amidst a bloody crime scene, according to CBS New York.

Reich was taken into custody and is being questioned by police. He has been charged with second-degree murder.

Neighbors say the couple was estranged, and Reich had not been around much lately.
He filed for divorce in August of 2015, but the matter is still pending.
