NASA Satellite Captures Moonlit Image Of The Blizzard From Space
  • 8 years ago
NASA released a satellite image of the storm system that recently battered the East Coast with snow and wind.

When Winter Storm Jonas tore through the East Coast over the weekend of January 23rd, NASA was able to catch sight of the blizzard, thanks to the abundant moonlight.
The space agency just released an image of the system gathered by the Suomi NPP satellite as the storm entrenched itself over the Eastern Seaboard early Saturday morning.
NASA notes, "In the image, the clouds are lit from above by the nearly full Moon and from below by the lights of the heavily populated East Coast. The city lights are blurred in places by cloud cover."
