Birth Of Rare Black Rhino Calf Caught On Video

A rare Eastern black rhino was recently born at the Chester Zoo in England. CCTV footage shows the birth and the baby's first steps.

The miracle of life was documented at the Chester Zoo in the United Kingdom, when a 13-year-old Black rhino named Ema Elsa gave birth to her calf on CCTV. 

In the video, the baby rhino exits his mother's birth canal in fast fashion before landing safely on a bed of sand. 

Staff at the zoo describe the birth as "perfect." 

Black rhinos are a critically endangered species with fewer than 650 believed to still exist across Africa due to increased poaching for their horns which fetch hefty prices in the traditional Asian medicine market. 

In the video, the young rhino is quick on its feet and can even be seen walking in the morning light.
