Elephant goes on rampage in Indian town

KOZHIKODE, INDIA — Footage from a viral video shows the moment a large elephant suddenly turns violent during a festival in India.
This video, currently circulating on social media, shows the elephant destroying an auto rickshaw and other vehicles. A priest, who was riding the elephant, managed to jump onto an electric pole for safety before the elephant ran away.
Elephants are considered sacred animals in India. They are common sights at religious festivals and ceremonies throughout the country.
