Macaws land at apartment window for snack

A cool video has emerged of several large macaws being fed on an apartment windowsill in central Caracas, Venezuela on Friday.

Hundreds, possibly thousands, of the beautiful birds live wild in the Venezuelan capital.

Legend has it that that the first 100 macaws were introduced in the 1970s by an Italian migrant who had fallen in love with the species.

Macaws, known locally as guacamayas, are now a common sight on the ledges of high-rise buildings or perched on antennas.

Originally from rainforests, macaws have adapted well to Caracas thanks to abundant tropical foliage which surges between skyscrapers.
