Obama to Hold Town Hall on Gun Violence

President Barack Obama will host a town hall focusing on gun issues, scheduling the event for Thursday, the fifth anniversary of the shooting of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
The town hall will take place at Virginia’s George Mason University, and will be hosted by CNN’s Anderson Cooper, airing on the cable network.
Mr. Obama is expected to discuss gun-related topics, and take questions from the audience.
The event comes as part of a renewed push by Mr. Obama on gun issues, drawing deep opposition from Republicans in Congress and on the presidential campaign trail.
The president is expected to announce executive actions in coming days that would impose new restrictions on gun ownership.
The measures under consideration stand to make it more difficult for people accused of domestic abuse and violence to purchase firearms.
