A typical North Pole December involves, as one would suspect, truly frigid temperatures often hovering around the 20 degrees Fahrenheit below zero mark. However, on Wednesday, the climate may have been more temperate there than in Boston.

Though scientists are still gathering data to determine the exact reading, they do suspect that for a brief time a high just above 32 degrees Fahrenheit, the freezing threshold, was reached.
