Lucky koala rescued from bushfire raging in Australia's south

VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA — A lucky koala, nicknamed Constable K. Bear, escaped the bushfire along Victoria's Great Ocean Road on Christmas Day. It was rescued by firefighters after they found it lying unresponsive on the road.

The video posted by Victoria Police on its Facebook page, showing an officer hand feeding the koala water has gone viral, with than 19,000 people liking it. Victoria police said Constable K. Bear is doing well after recovering health.

The bushfire is believed to have begun after a lightning strike and has destroyed more than 100 houses. Although the immediate threat had passed, authorities said the fire is not yet under control.
