On Christmas Eve, a woman 7 months into her pregnancy was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Chicago, but doctors were able to save her baby.

On Christmas Eve, a woman 7 months into her pregnancy was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Chicago, but doctors were able to save her baby.
26-year-old Karla Leanos was crossing a street just before 10 pm when the driver of a sedan struck her and then fled. 
Leanos was rushed to an area hospital but declared dead soon after arriving.
Emergency workers were able to deliver the child, and by Friday morning, the newborn’s condition had been stabilized.
