The beginning of what many consider the Third Intifada, or popular uprising, was the most important development in 2015 in Palestine. The unrest began in October in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem in response to Israeli provocations and settler violence. Palestine featured prominently in headlines as a result of its acceptance into membership of important world bodies such as the International Court of Justice and growing diplomatic recognition by governments around the world.
