Nicolas Cage has volunteered to return an illegally exported dinosaur skull to Mongolia.
Nicolas Cage has played the role of a treasure hunter in films, but the actor is now finding himself in the midst of a real life drama involving a valuable prehistoric object.
In 2007, the actor purchased the skull of a Tyrannosaurus bataar from a gallery in Beverly Hills for over a quarter of a million dollars.
More recently, it became known that the fossil was originally discovered in and illegally removed from Mongolia.
Cage, who was unaware of the object’s sketchy past, quickly volunteered to return the skull to the nation.
