Peru: New Center Honors Victims of Shining Path Conflict

In Lima, a new center presents photographs, testimonials and garments in honor of victims of the conflict between government forces and the Shining Path guerrilla group. Peru’s Truth Commission estimates that 69,000 people died or went missing in the conflict. According to the Commission, the Shining Path was responsible for two-thirds of the casualties, and the government for the remaining third.The government has allocated nearly US$100 million to pay reparations to victims of violence. teleSUR
