French regional elections: Far right sees record score but fails to win single region

The verdict is in for the French regional elections. After soaring ahead in half of the regions in play in the first round of votes, the National Front walked away empty-handed in last Sunday's second round. But it has nevertheless garnered a record number of votes and has definitely become a major player in French politics. It is a real contender for the 2017 presidential election.
