Chile: Politian Questioned Over Illegal Funding

Chile’s Attorney General’s Office questioned politician Marco Enriquez Ominami, founder of the Progressive Party, for three hours over whether or not the Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SOQUIMICH) provided him with illegal funds. It has been proven that a SOQUIMICH affiliate gave Ominami’s former Campaign Chief Christian Wagner around US$500,000 represented by 34 invoices for services that were apparently not rendered. Ominami denies any wrongdoing. The company was until recently controlled by Julio Ponce, the son-in-law of Augusto Pinochet.teleSUR
