After Decades, Full Moon To Appear This Christmas
  • 8 years ago
For the first time since 1977, Christmas Day will be marked with a full moon which isn’t expected to happen again until 2034.

Christmas day is a time people typically look to the sky, hoping to see snow, but this year, the gazers are in for a special space-related phenomenon.
For the first time since 1977, December 25th will be marked by a full moon.
More specifically, one NASA expert is projecting that the lunar size will peak at 6:11 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on that day.
As such, Christmas Eve is considered the best opportunity for public viewing in the U.S.
