Honduras: Former President Callejas Still Not Extradited to US
  • 8 years ago
Former president Rafael Callejas was president of Honduras from 1990 to 1994 and the main promoter of neoliberalism. After leaving office he was accused of nine corruption charges but never appeared before tribunals in the country. Last year he was accused of being part of the FIFA corruption scandal and received an extradition order from the United States. If he is extradited, the right-wing National Party will loose a leading political figure. If the government decides to disobey the request this will be the first time that it will have refused to comply with a US order. Gerardo Torres reports from Central America for teleSUR
