Israeli Economy Reeling Under Effects of Palestinian Upsurge
  • 8 years ago
The latest upsurge in Palestinian resistance, which flared in October and shows no signs of abating, is damaging the Israeli economy. Tourism and hotel reservations are down 50% and transportation and trade has also been effected. Credit card purchases have fallen 11% as many Israelis prefer to remain at home to avoid the violence. The international Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement has also had an effect and is expected to cost the Israeli economy US$4.7 billion annually.
