#Empowerista: Carrie Fisher & "The Force Awakens" Break Hollywood Age Norms

Princess Leia returns to the big screen 32 years later as General Leia when Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters December 18th. Instead of pulling a Hollywood move and casting a new young actress to play the iconic role, the famous franchise is embracing the original actress, 59-year-old Carrie Fisher, and her age and maturity. During recent interviews, Carrie spoke up about the difficulties of being a female actor, especially above the age of 30. She says she has chosen to cut back on the makeup, but did give into the pressure she received to lose more than 35 lbs. In this week's #empowerista, Alex Wehrley celebrates Carrie Fisher's authenticity and Star Wars rare move to embrace aging. Plus, she breaks down just how big the Hollywood age gap usually is.
