Peru : Further Cuts to be Made in 2016 Health Budget

Public hospitals in Peru are in a critical situation, but the government is not attending to the needs of patients there as distraught parents seek to alleviate the suffering of their children day after day. At a hospital that is supposed to serve two million people, resources are scarce and some employees have not been paid for months. Even more budget cuts are planned for 2016 and many believe it is an attempt to privatize the system. The cuts mean that 10,000 nurses, medics, lab technicians and other personnel will lose their jobs and new patients will be prevented from registering. Rael Mora reports from Lima for teleSUR
