Scientists Puzzled Over Sea Otter Deaths In Alaska

Scientists continue to be puzzled over the spike in sea otter deaths and illness observed around Alaska’s Kachemak Bay; no definitive answer has yet been found despite extensive testing.

A mysterious problem continues to plague sea otters in Alaska.
The Huffington Post reports that the number of ill or deceased sea otters around the Kachemak Bay has exceeded 250 thus far this year.
And, according to a member of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, this figure amounts to more than twice the casualties from last year which was also relatively high.
