Astronomers Observe Massive Black Hole Devouring Star
  • 8 years ago
Not only did astronomers get to follow along as a black hole devoured an entire star, they observed a rather rare occurrence – the existence of conical outflow.

No matter how much you ate on Thanksgiving, your meal doesn’t even come close to what a distant black hole had for dinner.

The massive vortex of doom, located about 300 million light years from Earth, chowed down on an entire star.

Not only did astronomers get to follow along as the drama unfolded, they observed a rather rare occurrence.
While the gravitational powerhouse was gobbling up the distant star, scientists recorded the existence of conical outflow of matter.
