Shaukat Khanum Peshawar will be opening on December 29, 2015.

We are standing in front of Pakistan’s second Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Peshawar and IshaAllah it will be opening on December 29, 2015. As you can see it is much bigger than the building was in Lahore. It has got two basement levels, a ground floor and five floors above that. The footprint of the building is 80,000 sq. ft. which is 33% bigger than the building in Lahore. We have tried to learn from our mistakes in Lahore and include in this building not only what we need today but what is likely to need for the next 20 years or so.
When we open on December 29, 2015, Shaukat Khanum Hospital Peshawar will have an outpatient clinic, inpatient rooms, intensive care area, a chemotherapy bay and the walk-in clinic that we already have as well as diagnostics such laboratory, pathology and radiology services. In the next phase, we will have radiation oncology being developed which should be in a year to 18 months, and thereafter surgical oncology/treatments will start. In the first phase, we will have chemotherapy here in Shaukat Khanum Peshawar from Day 1. That is usually the most travel back and forth between Peshawar and Lahore for patients coming to Lahore Hospital. So we thought it would be best to open that first. When we open Shaukat Khanum Peshawar, we will have 20 In-patient beds, a four bedded ICU and 30 chemotherapy bay beds as well as the outpatient and other services I mentioned.
