U.S. Anti-Foreigner Sentiments Echo Those That Kept Anne Frank Out

As the debate about allowing Syrian refugees into the U.S. continues, news outlets are likening the events to pre-WWII times when Jews, including Anne Frank’s father Otto, tried to get visas to the U.S. but failed due to restrictive policies about foreigners.


The U.S. debate over allowing Syrian refugees into the country is reminding some people of the efforts European Jews took to flee Nazi-dominated areas before WWII.
