According to reports, the amount seized by U.S. authorities under the practice of asset forfeiture has exceeded the money and property reported lost from burglaries in 2014.

For the first time, the value of assets the U.S. authorities seized from people exceeded the total amount lost in burglaries.
According to the blog Armstrong Economics, in 2014, U.S. attorneys took in about $4.5 billion in asset forfeitures, while the FBI logged in just $3.9 billion worth of property losses related to burglaries that same year.
Asset forfeiture is a practice that allows the police to take money or other possessions suspected of being related to a crime eve
