Argemtina: Macri’s Win Reveals Deeply Divided Argentina
  • 8 years ago
For the first time in 17 years the right has defeated a progressive government at the ballot box in Arntina. With a pro-market and neoliberal rhetoric, Mauricio Macri won Sunday’s presidential election by a tight 3% against Daniel Scioli, the candidate of the ruling Front for Victory coalition, revealing a deeply divided Argentina. Macri will have his first official meeting with outgoing President Cristina Fernandez on Tuesday, but she has already congratulated Macri on having a peaceful runoff, the first in the country’s history, and wished him good luck. teleSUR
