Santa Lucia: OECS Tackles Regional Socioeconomic Development

The leaders of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) are meeting this Wednesday and Thursday in Dominica, the island that was devastated by tropical storm Erica in late August. In their 62nd meeting chaired by Grenadian Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell, the nine heads of state will tackle issues affecting the socioeconomic development of the region, including strategies for Dominica’s recovery, future disaster responsiveness, and the integration of Martinique into the OECS. The leaders will also participate in a town hall meeting in one of Dominica’s hardest hit communities. Alison Kentish reports from Santa Lucia for teleSUR.
