Hero father dies jumping on suicide bomber in Beirut, saving hundreds

BEIRUT — On November 12, twin suicide blasts in Beirut carried out by the Islamic State killed 43 and injured 200. It was the worst bombing in the city since the civil war ended in 1990.
Adel Termos was at the mosque with his daughter, for the evening prayer, when the first suicide bomber detonated his explosive close by. He went outside. There, there was another suicide bomber running down the hill and shouting 'Allah akbar, Allah akbar.'
He ran in his direction and tackled him. An explosion followed, killing them both.
Thanks to Termos, the suicide bomber didn't manage to reach a crowd of people outside the mosque. With his life, he saved many others.
"There are many many families, hundreds of families probably, who owe their completeness to his sacrifice," said blogger and physician Elie Fares, who wrote about Termos in his blog.
The story of this brave father however went almost unnoticed, as the media have been too busy covering the Paris attacks that happened a day later.
"When my people died, no country bothered to light up its landmarks in the colors of their flag,".
"When my people died, they did not send the world into mourning. Their death was but an irrelevant fleck along the international news cycle, something that happens in those parts of the world," Fares wrote.
