A new species of duck-billed dinosaur uncovered in Montana is said to be a “perfect” evolutionary link between two previously-identified species.

A new species of dinosaur named Probrachylophosaurus bergei has been uncovered in Montana.
Publishing in the journal PLOS ONE, Dr. Elizabeth Freedman Fowler describes a duck-billed evolutionary link between two previously-identified species. 
The ancestral species lived about 81 million years ago and had no crest while the new dinosaur's descendant lived around 77.5 million years ago—sporting a larger crest.
The newly-discovered species, as a link between the two, lived about 79 million years ago; its crest was small.
