Footage has emerged of people standing next to their cars on a motorway in Istanbul, Turkey, to remember Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

The footage, shot on Tuesday, shows the yearly ritual in which the Turkish population stops whatever they are doing during for a minute on the November 10 at 9:05 to remember the death of former Turkish president Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Atatürk was the first president of the country and is considered the founder of modern Turkey.
