Uruguay: Women's Groups Demand Stiff Sentences for Femicides

Women's rights groups in Uruguay took to the streets in Montevideo earlier today to highlight the problem of deaths resulting from domestic abuse. Thus far this year 29 women have lost their lives at their hands of their current of former husbands or partners. Women in Black charge that the perpetrators of such femicides receive light sentences and that stiffer punishments could help deter such crimes. teleSUR
