Bien plus encore qu’Eminem, J. Dilla est le vrai Detroit’s Finest, une icône portée aux nues depuis son décès des suites d’une maladie sanguine le 10 février 2006. Comment résumer la carrière et l’univers de ce producteur de génie, rappeur à ses heures (avec ses groupes 1st Down et Slum Village, puis en solo), objet d’un véritable culte à travers le monde, notamment en France ? Kicket est allé interviewer pour cela DJ Fab du collectif Hip Hop Résistance (qui avait organisé son ultime concert parisien), Emmanuel Forlani de Free Your Funk (à l’origine des soirées Thank You Jay Dee) et les beatmakers Myth Syzer (Bon Gamin Entertainment/Grande Ville Records) et DJ Monkey Green (Bhale Bacce Crew).
