Knife in the butt: Chinese man sent to ER for DIY hemorrhoid removal

ZHEJIANG PROVINCE, CHINA — A 54 year old man identified by his last name, Yan, was admitted into an emergency room in China with a knife jutting from his poop chute.
Mr. Yan explained to doctors that he’d suffered from hemorrhoids for 20 years and out of sheer frustration had attempted a DIY hemorrhoid removal. Using a mirror, Mr. Yan had jammed a knife into his anus in an attempt to cut out the hemorrhoids, but the pain stopped him dead in his tracks.
Mr. Yan then discovered to his horror that he was unable to remove the knife and called a coworker to drive him to the hospital.
Doctors at the emergency room X-rayed Mr. Yan to make sure that the knife had not perforated his colon or lower intestines before removing it. The removal took a while because the knife Mr. Yan had chosen to use had a hooked tip.
What was he thinking?
Doctors then realized that Mr. Yan didn’t even have hemorrhoids and according to his medical charts Mr. Yan had never suffered from hemorrhoids. They’ve requested that Mr. Yan undergo a psychiatric evaluation before going home.
