Imran Khan Criticize Young Doctors

PTI Chairman Imran Khan addressed a press conference in Peshawar regarding the implementation of the Health Reform Act which was passed by the KP assembly in January 2015. He reiterated the flaws and the failures of the old system which leads to a lack of optimal services to 10 million patients who attend government hospitals. The new reform act is based on the international administrative standards of institutional autonomy where the system is based on merit and the professionals are hired on market salaries. This system also provides for essential medicines and laboratory tests for the patients within the premises of the hospitals. The said system is already working in the Shaukat Khanam Memorial Hospital with great success. He stated that while the majority of the health care professionals support the new reforms, major hindrances are being faced by the government due to the stay orders taken by few of the professionals so as to protect their own financial interests in lieu of their private practices. He assured the resolve of the KP government and PTI to fight this battle in the courts and in public. He also guaranteed full support to the new Board of Governors of the institutions in their effort to implement best practices and policies.
