WASHINGTON — Police officers were caught on tape violently detaining an innocent black teen in Washington, DC on Monday. The video has stirred controversy online with the hashtag #JusticeforJason and a protest in the streets of Washington.

According to a tweet from the account that posted the video, the incident stemmed from a white couple calling the DC Metropolitan Police because they felt uncomfortable about black teens standing by an ATM. In the video, Jason Goolsby, 18, was slammed to the sidewalk and handcuffed.

Officer Sean Hickman, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Department, told the Huffington Post in an email that: "The initial call was for a suspicious person, three subjects may be trying to rob people at the ATM ... One individual fled on foot from the police, was chased, and then taken down. The individual resisted, and was handcuffed while resisting after he refused to stop. The person making the video was interfering with police, and was also detained while the incident was investigated. Neither individual was arrested."

After further investigation, no crime was found to have been committed. Goolsby is a scholarship student at the University of the District of Columbia and an aspiring rapper who releases music under the names Kid Kwesi and Jay Cousteau.
