On board Dignity 1, with MSF volunteers rescuing migrants at sea
  • 8 years ago
The number of migrants making the perilous crossing of the Mediterranean shows no sign of falling. According to the UN, a record 218,000 people made it across in October. Since April, medical charity Doctors Without Borders (also known by its French acronym MSF) has been operating three boats in the Mediterranean to try to save the lives of migrants, packed into small rickety boats by people traffickers.
FRANCE 24 went on board one of these ships, the Dignity 1, which has so far saved well over 2,000 people. Marine Pradel brings us this exclusive report, filmed off the Libyan coast.
A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Josh Vardey and Elom Marcel Toble
