Only U.S. and Israel Vote Against Lifting Cuba Blockade

With 191 votes in favor, the UN General Assembly voted in favor of lifting the U.S. blockade against Cuba for the 23rd straight year. Only two countries voted against – the United States and Israel. Cuba’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez charged that “the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed against Cuba is in full effect…with no tangible modifications.” According to analyst Max Paul Friedman, the U.S. “no” vote was due to the Obama administration’s disappointment over Cuba’s unwillingness to mention normalization efforts in the resolution. Bianca Perez reports for teleSUR.
