Adiyaman, an IS group 'hotspot' in south-eastern Turkey
  • 9 years ago
Yunus Emre Alagoz, one of the suicide bombers identified in this month's deadly attack on a peace rally in Ankara, came from Turkey's south-eastern city of Adiyaman. His brother is also suspected of carrying out another bombing in July, in the Kurdish-dominated town of Suruç. Meanwhile, at least 200 young men from Adiyaman are said to have joined the ranks of the Islamic State group in Syria. What is it about Adiyaman that seems to be breeding Islamist extremists?
