Study: Crocodiles Can Sleep With One Eye Open

Researchers have confirmed a long-believed notion; crocodiles, do, in fact sleep with one eye open—at least sometimes.

It might sound like a bit of bluster, but it's true: crocodiles can sleep with one eye open.
A study recently published in the Journal of Experimental Biology confirms the behavior and suggests that crocodiles may do this as a result of unihemispheric sleep—sleeping with only half the brain at a time.
Snoozing in such a way could allow crocodiles to keep one eye connected to the half of the brain that stays awake. This eye would be able to remain open and quickly react to predators, prey or peers.
According to researchers, crocodiles were more likely to keep one eye
