Shaandaar Movie Review | Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt

Well it is not about boy meets girl, girl meets boy and they fall in love and happily live ever after now. These days it is about being Vikash Bahl and when it is him, you know you are in for something quirky and different.

And this is exactly what the Queen director choses to achieve. Yes, if you are ready to go on a long trip to a destination wedding then you are right in the middle of a jing bang group of two East Indian families who come from different backgrounds and meet at a place for a great destination theme wedding.

Shahid Kapoor plays the role of an insomniac along with Alia who is also short of sleep at night. Obviously the movie is about how they spend their sleepless nights and ultimately like any Bollywood movie fall in love.

So it is all about love but it is loving with a difference and this is the reason you may have to check out Shaandar just to feel the difference, to feel the Vikasitis which is gripping Bollywood these days. With Sanah Kapoor, Shahid’s real life sister also a part of the pivotal plot, things look more interesting and entertaining. However as with all Bollywood movies, the story may be strong but as the characters unfold and the story begins to play , it lags somewhere and this could be the reason the Shahid flick may not really come across as a perfect ten movie.

However if you really are a movie buff and just want to watch something quirky just for laughs then this is a good choice. As for Shahid fans, they would love to see the cute couple of him and Alia unfold in its own weird way.

We give it three stars out of five.
