Plot: Karmu (Shashi Kapoor), a farmer in a village named Uthup, resides with his widowed mother. Somu (Simi Garewal), a girl from the village, is attracted towards Karmu and proposes marriage to him. Somu does not fulfil the qualities that Karmu wants in his partner and hence, rejects he marriage proposal. Once, in a fair, Karmu comes across Nanki (Hema Malini), from Hunthu village and realizes that she is the girl of her dreams and eventually the two fall in love with each other. Karmu proposes his desire of getting married to Nanki, to which his mother agrees and visits Nanki's house to talk to his father. But Nanki' father refuses the proposal and humiliates Karmu's mother, also adding the fact that he wants Nanki to marry a person whose family is more wealthy than his. An angry Karmu decides to take revenge for his mother's humiliation and sets out for Hunthu. What will be the final verdict of Karmu and Nanki's love story?
