Saint Lucia: CARICOM Members To Observe Haitian Elections

Haitians will go to the polls on Sunday, five years and ten months after the country was struck by a catastrophic 7.0 magnitude earthquake that destroyed the capital Port-au-Prince and killed over 200,000 people. Members of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will observe the first round of the presidential election in Haiti and the second round of legislative elections. There are 53 presidential candidates and 5.8 million registered voters in Haiti. The observers will be in Haiti until October 27, but the election results will not be available immediately.
