Pabbi Forest Park, Sarai Alamgir

Pabbi Forest Park, is part of Rakh Pabbi Sarkar Forest, which was declared as reserved forest in 1879. The total area of the Rakh Pabbi Forest is around 38,874 acres while the elevation of its hills varies from 982 to 1,358 feet above the sea level and they are a part of Himalayan foothills.
Pabbi Forest Park, is situated along the left side of GT-Road while moving from Sarai Alamgir to Kharian.
Brief History: A Forest Officer Camping site was established during 1982 under a scheme named "Range Management Demonstration, Training & Research Project." Later on, the same was declared as Pabbi Hills Recreational Park, from October 2000. The Park remained under the control of Pakistan Army for some time, and they added some recreational facilities in the Park.
Over the course of time, it remained neglected with no interest either by visitors or the forest department to upgrade it. I visited this area in January 2015, along with Meisam Abbas (EASO Karian). Soon afterwards, I decided to upgrade this naturally landscaped park site.
A donor's conference was convened on 26th March whereby, expats of Kharian & Sarai Alamgir, pledged Rs. 2 Millions for the Pabbi Forest Park. These funds were collected & utilised by our beautification committee (Raja Muhammad Anwar, Ch. Gulzar & Tauseef Haider Shah) under personal supervision of mine.

Finally, I pay a heartfelt tribute to all those who contributed for development of this Park.
