Neela (Waheeda Rehman), a reknowned stage dancer, is in police custody, on charge of the murder of Ranjan (Chandrashekhar), the male lead of her dance performances. Rajesh (Dev Anand), a renowned lawyer is fighting a case for Neela. Neela confesses that she has murdered Ranjan, but when Rajesh studies the case in deep, he comes across a different story, where hints and clues clearly indicate that Neela is innocent. While understanding the story more in detail and regular meetings with Neela, Rajesh falls in love with Neela. Will he be able to prove that Neela is innocent and not guilty?
