'Disturb my breakfast with a hold-up? I don't think so,' says good guy with a gun at Waffle House

CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA ? A would-be robber in South Carolina is dead after he picked the wrong Waffle House. Authorities say early on the morning of October 3, 2015, a 19-year-old man identified as Joshua Jermaine Davis entered a Waffle House on Dorchester Road in Charleston, South Carolina intending to commit robbery.

A customer having an early morning breakfast at the eatery just so happened to have a concealed carry permit, and the unidentified individual decided to intervene by shooting the would-be robber an unknown number of times.

Davis was rushed to Medical University Hospital where he later died. Restaurant employees told local newspaper the Post and Courier that the customer saved them. It is unclear what type of kind of weapon the suspect may have used in the attempted robbery, or if he was carrying a weapon at all.

The restaurant reopened a short time after the incident and a local division manager for the restaurant chain, Brandon Rogers, said nothing was stolen and it was the first time he was aware of a crime occurring at this particular branch.

"No one was hurt, which is the best part," Rogers said, before continuing, "No one was injured, besides the suspect."

Police say the customer will not be charged at this time as he possessed a legal permit for his weapon and acted within legal parameters for the use of deadly force.
