MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE ? A Memphis police officer was shot and killed outside his home in Cordova, Tennessee Sunday afternoon, Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong said at a press conference.

Memphis police officer Terence Olridge, 31, was leaving his home for work in his uniform at around 1 p.m. on Sunday, the victim's uncle told WREG-TV, when he then reportedly tried to break up a domestic dispute between his neighbors. During the altercation, Olridge was shot multiple times, according to a Blue Lives Matter Memphis Facebook group.

A witness told local 24 news reporter that she heard three gunshots that afternoon.

Officer Olridge managed to get back to his garage door where his 4-months pregnant fiancee called for help. He was transported to Regional Medical Center in critical condition and was pronounced dead later, said the uncle.

A male suspect is in custody, but the shooting remains under investigation. According to Armstrong, the details of the shooting are "very, very sketchy."

The suspect's sister told WMC Action News 5 that her brother was washing his car when he got into an altercation with Officer Olridge.

This is the fourth police killing in Memphis in four years, just two months after the fatal shooting of another Memphis police officer, Sean Bolton.

"It just doesn't get any easier," Armstrong said in the press conference. "I didn't think that we'd be here again so soon."
