Brazil: Government Dismisses Possibility of Impeachment

The Brazilian government has dismissed the idea that Wednesday0s rejection of its accounts by a federal court could lead to the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff. The ruling that the government’s accounts and practices back in 2004 were illegal came as a new setback for President Roussef, whose popularity is the lowest for a Brazilian president in more than 20 years. According to the court, the government’s practices included taking unauthorized loans from state-owned banks to make up for budget shortfalls. The court’s ruling will now go to Congress. teleSUR
