Nicaraguan police clashed with striking miners during a protest on Tuesday. Miners attacked police with sticks, rocks, mortars, and Molotov cocktails. One policeman was killed and 23 officers were injured, along with eight civilians, and several police and company vehicles were destroyed in the disturbances.
