Colombia: Last Nomadic Tribe Fears Losing Culture

The indigenous people of Colombia’s last nomadic tribe, the Nukak Maku, are fearful of losing their culture. Nukak means “the true man.” The tribe is one of 34 indigenous groups in danger of extinction. They first made contact with the outside world in 1988 and are at odds with modern concepts such as borders, private property and money. The Nukak were driven from their territory by the country’s armed conflict ten years ago and if a peace deal is signed and enforced, they hope to return. teleSUR
