Bolivia: Pro-Choice Activists Demand Decriminalization of Abortion
  • 9 years ago
As part of the Global Day of Action for Access to Safe and Legal Abortion called for September 28, pro-choice activists in La Paz, Bolivia took to the streets to demand that abortion be removed from the country's penal code. Bolivian law allows abortions only in case of rape or the mother's life being at risk. Every day 185 illegal abortions are performed in Bolivia, the second highest rate in Latin America, many under unsafe conditions. Dimitri O'Donnell reports from La Paz. teleSUR
