Volkswagen Group of America President Michael Horn is the latest executive to issue a public apology on behalf of the German carmaker for secretly installing software in its diesel-powered cars to circumvent emissions standards.
Horn delivers his apology in a straight-to-camera statement that has been uploaded to a website created specifically to address the scandal , known as dieselgate, and provide information about the forthcoming recall of roughly 482,000 vehicles sold in the U.S.

"On behalf of our company I would like to offer our sincere apologies to those affected by our violation of the CARP and EPA emissions standards," Horn said.
Last week, the Obama Administration authorized a recall of all the affected Volkswagen cars-TDI versions of the Jetta, Passat, Golf, Beetle as well as various Audis all manufactured between 2009 and 2015-but it's not clear when that will go into effect, according to the Volkswagen site.
